New Token Concept From Lead EOS Developer Dan Larimer Fails To Win Supporters “MonerEOS”
Daniel Larimer is currently the Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of EOS and Block.One. A prestigious position, certainly, but it does not seem like his latest non-EOS project has got him a lot of fans. He affirmed, via Telegram, that he was now developing a brand new crypto side project.
While he only gave people some vague information about how this new hypothetical token would be, he described it as something that would be immutable, limited to the role of being a proper digital currency and non-programmable.
The developer, which works with EOS and was one of the co-founders of Steemit and DAO BitShares, would make this his latest crypto project. However, people have not reacted very well to the announcement.
Originally, the said that the idea for this concept of token appeared when he was working on the security and scalability of EOS. He then started to think more about it and that he was interested in exploring the concept more.
He said that he refused to quit EOS and that the new token would not compromise other much larger use cases. At the same day, he referred to the project as MonerEOS, a mashup between the names of EOS and Monero (XMR). He also claimed at the time that “crypto people will hate it”.
“Sound A Lot Like Bitcoin”
One of the people who really did not like the project was “WhalePanda”, a Twitter user. He tweeted that the project made by Daniel Larimer “sounds a lot like Bitcoin” and he would need a lot of funding to create the project. He also criticized the man for announcing this soon after Steemit had to fire 70% of its employees.
“Scammers gonna scam”
he affirmed. He also accused the man of switching between projects too fast and not being compromised enough. Because of all these issues, especially the ones that come from Steemit, it is certain that Dan Larimer will have a hard time funding his idea.
