New Viacoin (VIA) Vialectrum Wallet Releases, Touts “Below a Second” Transaction Times
New Version of Viacoin (VIA) Vialectrum Wallet Released, Reduces Transaction Times to “Below a Second”
Vialectrum developer Romano just announced a new version of his popular Viacoin (VIA) wallet. The new version comes with an optional black theme and includes libsecp256k1.
“libsecp256k1 is much faster than python-ecdsa,” explained Romano in a tweet announcing the new wallet.
“Signing a transaction with 100 inputs with python-ecdsa takes about a minute while with libsecp256k1, it’s below a second.”
In other words, you can expect significantly faster transactions when using the Vialectrum wallet. The Vialectrum wallet is the most popular Viacoin wallet. It’s available for free from Vialectrum.org for Windows, Linux, and OS X.
Key features of Vialectrum include the pass-phrase and private key management system. Vialectrum, like other wallets, will create a unique twelve word pass-phrase. This pass-phrase is never sent to the Vialectrum servers. All information received from the server is verified using Simplified Payment Verification (SPV).
Another nifty feature of Vialectrum is the ability to use it instantly. Like a typical crypto wallet, you don’t need to download the blockchain or sync to the network to use the wallet to store your Viacoins.
Vialectrum also supports cold storage, third party plugins, multi-sig setups, two-factor authentication, and more.
Vialectrm’s developer is Romano (@RNR_0), a 22 year old developer from the Netherlands. Romano released the Vialectrum wallet earlier this year. A new version of the wallet featuring the black theme and faster transaction times was announced early Tuesday.
In any case, Vialectrum fans can now access a new black theme for the wallet along with significantly faster transaction times thanks to libsecp256k1 support.
