Notorious Rambler Nouriel Roubini and Active Bitcoin Investor Tone Vays Slug it Out on Twitter

Toney Vays, a BTC influencer, recently went on Twitter and posted a poll where he asked followers to pick what haircut he should pick. This was on the pretext of talking about an upcoming BTC world Tour that will occur in early 2019. In the tweet, he stated that after three and a half months on a BTC world tour, he was now considering a haircut. He thus asked for help determining what tone of haircut he should get.

Nouriel Roubini Chips In

Nouriel Roubini, the man who predicted the 2008 recession and crypto hater, responded. He noted the statistics of BTC losses throughout 2018. He also called out Vays due to the huge loss in the crypto market in 2018. He mocked Vays by telling him that he had gotten such a huge haircut that he was nearly bald. This was in reference to the huge losses of about 85% that BTC has suffered since its peak in December 2017. He told Vays that he was already scalped. In his conclusion, Roubini explained that only a religious zealot would continue preaching about BTC in the world despite the huge losses.

Vays was not taking the dig lying down. He said that he had seen bear markets in the past. Besides that, he added that he watched BTC fall from $1200 to just $150 some time back. After that, the BTC took a huge bounce, which reached $20,000. He added that the fundamentals were much stronger this time.

Roubini And Crypto

Roubini began to criticize crypto intensely at the start of 2018. One of his most renowned tweets was when he took a dig at BTC and Vitalik, the ETH co-founder. Dr. Doom, as he has come to be known, drew an analogy between BTC and North Korea, he then went on to compare Vitalik to a Dictator. He also mocked BTC by stating that its Gini Coefficient was worse than North Korea’s.

A History Of Twitter Fights

This is not the first time Dr. Doom and Vays are feuding on Twitter. On November 16, Roubini tweeted that he was confident BTC could drop 10% in a single day. However, he mockingly added that it had a long way to go before it bottomed out at zero. Roubini was responding to a tweet from Vays.

Not to be outdone, Vays talked about the housing market and his experience with HODLing. During the housing crash, he said that he held on to his apartment and things eventually worked out well. In his opinion, he would remain for the midterm and short-term since there was too much risk.

On September 2, the two had squared off once more. This was at the BlockShow event in 2018. There was even a video online, which showed Roubini and Vays squaring off. However, Vays has always been clear that he does not have blind optimism. He views crypto much like nuclear power, which is only safe if handled properly.
