Crypto Scam OneCoin’s Lawyer Found Guilty In $4 Billion Money Laundering Scheme
OneCoin’s lawyer, Mark S. Scott was found guilty of helping Co-Founder, Ruja Ignatova who remains at large, launder $400 million. As for his cut of the pie, news outlet, Coin Telegraph disclosed that it amounted to some $50 million.
Scott, who served as a former partner at a law firm called, Locke Lord, tried to get out of the case by simply arguing that he had no idea that OneCoin was a scam and that he did what was required of him as a lawyer. His involvement in the project was eventually traced, and it turns out that he went as far as using a network of nonexistent companies and bank accounts across the globe to deprive investors of funds.
Ignatova’s Brother Pleads Guilty, Drags Sister and Lawyer with Him
As of March 2019, Ruja’s brother, Konstantin Ignatova was arrested for taking part in this scam of a project. He has since pleaded guilty and signed a plea deal in which he faces 90 years in prison.
