Openbazaar Launches a New Social Media Platform App ‘Haven Privacy’ Aimed at Fostering Privacy
On Thursday as the inaugural TNABC (North American Bitcoin Conference) was taking place, Brian Hoffman, the CEO and founder of Openbazaar made an announcement aimed at introducing a new service going by the title “Haven Privacy.” This new product comes as a multi-faceted app for Openbazaar’s full node and mobile clients.
It is a product that is aimed at enabling its users to send cryptocurrencies, shop, as well as chat in a private manner.
Openbazaar Planning to Introduce a Privacy-Centric Application for Social Media
Openbazaar, the decentralized e-commerce marketplace recently announced that it was going to introduce a new application aptly titled Haven Privacy. This new application, once fully launched, will be integrated into the e-commerce marketplace flagship software.
This is a project that initially came to the publics’ attention after it was announced at the North American Bitcoin Conference, which was recently held in Miami a few days ago. The service was introduced by Brian Hoffman, the founder of OB1 to the crowd that had attended the very first event of its kind.
According to the Openbazaar team, this new service is expected to be a ‘super-application’ in that it makes it possible for an individual to chat with other platform members, send digital assets privately, as well as shop without having to worry about their privacy becoming compromised.
Brian went on to state that the new features are expected to be made available to the existing mobile applications (Android and iOS) being used by Openbazaar. A full node implementation will also be made available for the parent platform.
Unlike the contemporary applications, Haven is aimed at offering unrivaled privacy. The team behind its development have gone on to explain that when you are using the application, you do not have to worry about the data that you are transmitting as it all belongs to you.
This is to say that all the data will be encrypted for you and stored on your mobile device. The OB1 message has further gone ahead to state that the Haven team believes that private money and privacy are a fundamental human right—it is, therefore, time that individuals got to take back their privacy.
Haven Privacy Development
The Haven Privacy website states that the team behind this privacy application worked on it for a period of two years. At the moment, the e-commerce marketplace users will need to wait a little bit longer before they can start using it as it has not yet been officially released for download by the users.
It is, however, possible for interested users to sign up on the platform for the regular newsletter in order to get access to the launch information. The team has come up with a newsletter that is completely dedicated to this new service. Mike Wolf, an OB1 employee took to Twitter to talk more about the new service.
Mike explained to his followers that the service is expected to be a game changer. According to Mike, there will be invites for beta testers rolling out on Monday, before the open beta can be launched later on.
