The network is a two-step payment portal that processes faster bitcoin payments and makes the channel scalable for its users. The payment process allows users to donate directly by searching the Tor network. Users have no need to copy and paste addressed as the portal can be easily searched.
The Tor Network has strong backing by the US government. In fact, the US government is the chief financier of the network after the US Naval Research funded its parent company, Onion Routing, in 1995. Until now, Tor is still receiving some support from the government as an NGO.
Although the government has strongly supported the Onion Routing, its application has widely been on the dark web, particularly on illegitimate sites. Also, the network has received widespread attention from other unexpected sets of people. It has been used by whistleblowers who want to hide their identity and political rebels fighting oppressive regimes.
Alternative Options for Donations
Apart from Bitcoin, the Tor Project also accepts donations through fiat currency. The wallet accepts direct donations, or those who want to donate can do so automatically. Currently, the wallet accepts more than 20 fiat currencies, including Swiss Francs, Canadian dollars, Brazilian reals, Australian dollars, pound sterling, euros, and US dollars. The Tor Project advises contributors and users to use the bottleplay wallet to make it very easy to make their donations directly.
Tor’s Transaction Security a breeding ground for Hackers
The Tor Network system provides privacy to its users. Those who want to carry out a secured transaction can do that over the Tor network as it offers safety and security of transactions. It means that they can transact as antonymous and complete their transaction without anyone finding out who they are.
It makes it an attraction to people looking for a private platform to enhance their activities or operation. These people could either be operating legally or illegally.
Besides, the use of cryptocurrency, which is a secured network, has invited more people that would rather carry transactions privately. It gives people a sense of security and protects their identity from the law. Since the network ensures both privacy in transactions and communications, its users are mostly victimized by hackers. As recently as last month, ESET, an antivirus distributor, found out a Tor trojanized Browser that steals BTC from buyers via the platform.
Users and supporters can now send their payments and donations across in the form of Bitcoin. To make this payment faster, they can send it through the Lighting Network. According to Tor, it will make payments and donations easier and faster for those involved.
