Orion Span ‘Space Hotel’ to Accept Crypto Assets Payments for Luxury 12-Night Stay
The future of cryptocurrency is not as bleak as many naysayers have described. This is partly because it is possible that the dream of its massive adoption could be realized sooner than expected.
While some government institutions and investment funds have given their full support for the use of cryptocurrency, a new wave of the adoption is catching on in the form of big money private sectors who are considering accepting the cryptocurrencies in hospitality industry.
A project named Orion Space is set to launch its first space station that will be used as a luxury hotel where tourists and travelers can have some time to relax.
The Aurora space station due for launch in early 2022 will have an aircraft that will charge as much as about $10 million US dollars for a 12-night space stay.
The project will not only accept real currencies but also cryptocurrencies which could by then, have become an acceptable means of exchange in some major economies.
The space hotel project claims it has already sold out the first six months reservations, and will not only stick to popular currencies for 12-night plans but also deal in the adoption of cryptocurrencies including major currencies such as Bitcoin cash (BCH).
Since the first scientific experiment of landing and staying in the orbit was first carried out by NASA which stayed in the moon, many other governments have also followed suit, launching some of their citizens in the space.
The trend continued with many private companies and corporations also sticking their neck into accepting the reality that people can stay and enjoy in the orbit without any fear.
Recently, we’ve had some private companies attempting and succeeding in sending people into space.
The ones that readily come to the mind are Space X built by Elon Musk and Virgin Galactic. Space X has already sent people into space through the recent launch of its Falcon 9. The project has since garnered a lot of interest, with some billionaires already endorsing the idea of using the spacecraft to go into space with some close friends.
Similarly, during the course of last week, Virgin Galactic also launched its Spaceship Two in the space for the first time.
Consequently there have been huge adaptations of this initiative with Orion Span planning to develop a craft in the form of luxury hotel which will shelter people, especially millionaires and billionaires, for a few nights outside the earth space.
The project looks at bringing a lot of persons closer to the orbit through the Aurora Station that will get the world excited come 2022. But the cost per night could amount to $800,000 for every guest of the space station, and a total of $9.5 million US dollars for a 12-night stay.
Orion accepts digital assets including Ethereum (ETH), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Litecoin (LTC) and Bitcoin (BTC), but individuals willing to make down payments in real cash will have to do that by depositing $800,000.
The project was launched back in April and since then a total number of 26 reservations are claimed to have been sold out to interested member of the public who are willing to take part in the experience.
The acceptance of digital assets by Orion is an indication that the company has a future as predictions suggest that cryptocurrencies are likely to take over the economic space in the next few years.
Besides, more and more people will be interested and willing to get into space and take part in this new experience. In fact, the space hotel will not only be restricted to money bags alone but also many ordinary tourists who can afford it, will like to take part in it.
According to the team behind Orion, the hotel will take a total of 4 to 6 guests at a time together with two members of the aircraft crew for the entire duration of the 12 nights.
Speaking after the announcement of the proposed launch, Orion founder and CEO Frank Bunger says that:
“Since opening our hotel reservations in April, we’ve been met with great excitement as space enthusiasts from around the world have moved quickly to secure their reservations”
Bunger further explained that the idea behind the Aurora Station project is to give tourists a new and better traveling experience, saying guests will be able to enjoy themselves and have fun in a zero gravity space.
Added to their experience is that passengers can look straight at the northern and southern Aurora and take active and conscious part in space experiment provided by the company. During the stay, guests will also have access to unlimited internet services as well live streaming of virtual services such as holodek.
“Aurora Station is incredibly versatile and has multiple uses beyond serving as a hotel,” Bunger added.
“We will offer full charters to space agencies who are looking to achieve human spaceflight in orbit for a fraction of the cost — and only pay for what they use.
Bunger also touched on the other services that will be made available especially for guests, especially researcher, during their 12-night stay on the space craft. Researchers in space gravity, manufacturing will take full advantage of the trip.
“We will support zero gravity research, as well as in space manufacturing — Our architecture is such that we can easily add capacity, enabling us to grow with market demand like a city growing skyward on Earth,” he concluded.
No doubt, projects like these ones will involve a lot of money from both their creators and users, but it is worth noting that they will garner a lot of interest in the coming years.
In fact, Orion Span is considering making it available for everyone so that both holders of real money and users of cryptocurrencies could be beneficiaries of the benefits the space experience will offer in the long run.
These developments are in no small means a step in the right direction for the future of cryptocurrencies. We only need to watch out for more collaboration and cooperation between digital asset enthusiasts and the entire global business world.
