Parity Adds Casper To Substrate Blockchain Toolbox, Combines Sharding To Create “Shasper”

Parity Technologies, an startup company based on the Ethereum blockchain technology, has recently added a new version of the Casper code update to its blockchain development platform, Substrate. The company has released the code on Github yesterday.

According to the company, the code contains a mechanism that will be used to transition to the “Shasper” upgrade, which will combine the new consensus switch, Casper, with an in-house scaling solution of the company based in the sharding technology.

Wei Tang, the main developer of the project at Parity, has affirmed that Shasper will be a combination of the Casper updated and the in-house sharding tech and that the users will see huge improvements as the upgrade is started to be used. Wei believes that the implementation of the Substrate tech will act as a sort of a basic skeleton that will be tested and has already affirmed that the interested parties will be able to run the codebase.

According to Wei Tang, these additions will be tested and improved and Substrate will act as a general framework for many different blockchains using the same technology.

About Substrate

Substrate is a module blockchain development framework that was developed by Gavin Wood, the co-founder of Parity Technologies. The framework will be used to enable new projects to create custom blockchains and offers simplified tooling.

Wei Tang affirms that Substrate is trying to actually define a new framework to be used on the technology and that it will be fully compatible with the Shasper technology.
