Payment Gateway Opens by Adult-Film Startup Initmate.io to Accept Crypto Payments, Creates ITM Token
The cryptocurrency industry is constantly looking for new use cases that it can use to spread the digital assets into mainstream culture. While there are countries and retailers developing crypto opportunities, the adult film industry seems to want to get involved too, as a new adult-film startup prepares for the launch of a crypto payment gateway.
The startup, Intimate.io, plans to use their work on the payment gateway to allow for websites to accept high-performing digital currencies as payment for the available purchase on their websites, like Ethereum and Bitcoin. During the first half of this year, there are 60+ partners to the startup that want to add cryptocurrencies as well.
Along with the work on the payment platform, Intimate.io has decided to launch their own token as well, called Intimate (ITM). The purpose of ITM is to use it for
“payment, privacy, and reputation.”
Their work inside and outside of the crypto industry has led them to secure new partnerships with 47 adult websites. Some of those websites include Sexpo, ClubX, and Rendevu.
Aiming to market their project at a global scale, the creators of Intimate.io will be attending multiple events, like the Xbiz Awards and the Cybersocket awards. Just by attending these events, CEO Ruben Coppa of Intimate.io believes that at least “15 to 20 more partners” will be secured.
Smile Makers Collection will be the host of the first payment gateway for Intimate.io. Once it is integrated, four coins have specifically been named for acceptance – Intimate (ITM), Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Binance Coin (BNB).
Payment gateways in the cryptocurrency world seem to see the adult film industry as a new opportunity to collaborate. Payment methods like Mastercard and Visa see the industry as a high-risk venture, which is why there are excessive fees of up to 15% with the potential for being completely suspended. Cryptocurrency does not have this predisposition against the adult film industry, and it affords the user the anonymity that a bank statement will not.
Explaining further, Coppa said,
“Adult is the use case crypto has been waiting for. I absolutely think that’s the case and the more time that goes on, the more people in crypto agree with us.”
Intimate.io has been around since the end of 2017, coming in when the crypto-boom happened, though many competitors of Intimate.io have left the market entirely as the bear market continues. SpankChain and PumaPay are the only significant payment platforms that remain.
“There was a huge influx of crypto payments methods, but there is only a handful left. I think it’s now extremely difficult for someone else to enter the space.”
Even Pornhub, one of the world’s leading adult-film websites, attempted to collaborate with multiple crypto platforms in a similar fashion last year, but still, see less than 1% of payments performed with cryptocurrencies.
Not to be discouraged, Coppa is hopeful, simply saying,
“I think crypto will save adult.”
