Pierre Rochard Wants the Blockchain Association to Keep Its ICO Scams Away from Bitcoin

BitcoinAdvisory.com’s Pierre Rochard recently published a response to the launch of the Blockchain Association, a blockchain advisory group launched earlier this month to influence lawmakers in Washington, DC.

“Please, just keep your ICO scams away from bitcoin. Thanks,”

Wrote Rochard in a Medium blog post. That was the entirety of the blog post: just one sentence.

The blog post was published days after the launch of Blockchain Association earlier this month. Rochard’s blog post was written in response to the Blockchain Association’s own Medium blog post.

In the Blockchain Association’s original blog post, the organization described itself as “a unified voice for the blockchain industry.” The organization includes veterans from across the industry, including major companies like Coinbase and Circle. Protocol Labs, Digital Currency Group, and Polychain Capital are all among the founding members of the group.

The goal of the Blockchain Association is to influence policymakers in Washington DC. Like other lobbying groups, the Blockchain Association will push for more blockchain-friendly, crypto-friendly laws.

Here’s how the Blockchain Association described its objectives in its initial blog post:

“Our objective is to create a pro-innovation environment for the industry, meeting the growing global demand for accessible, transparent and democratic financial and technical systems. To do that, we’ll foster collaboration between the community and industry leaders, educate policymakers and the public on the benefits of blockchain and related technologies, and advocate for public policy that cultivates and enables innovation and improves lives.”

BTC Maximalist and Crypto Troll Pierre Rochard Doesn’t Support the Blockchain Association

Clearly, BitcoinAdvisory.com founder Pierre Rochard is not a fan of the Blockchain Association. His scathing, one-sentence blog post criticized members of the organization for previously promoting ICO scams:

“Please, just keep your ICO scams away from bitcoin. Thanks.”

It’s not totally clear which members of the group Rochard is referring to, or which specific scams.

Rochard has faced plenty of criticism in the crypto space for being a troll. He’s one of the main figures in the “bitcoin maximalist” space online. Pierre Rochard frequently uses his online presence to bash any digital currency that isn’t BTC. The 29-year old accountant-turned-self-taught-software-engineer launched Bitcoin Advisory, LLC earlier this year to teach professionals about bitcoin and bitcoin investing.

Meanwhile, the Blockchain Association has already made its first hire, hiring Kristen Smith, former aide to Senator Olympia J. Snow and advisor at Thompson Coburn’s lobbying and policy group. Smith doesn’t claim to have extensive blockchain experience. She has, however, spent some time lobbying for Overstock.com on blockchain-related issues.
