Pierre Rochard’s New Bitcoin Lightning Power App Will Make Earning Payments In BTC Much Easier
Lightning Power Users, a new app created by the developer Pierre Rochard, was launched today. This new app aims to tackle Bitcoin’s inbound capacity problem, something that affects the Lightning Network and reduces its capability of working in an effective way.
Inbound capacity is basically to have sufficient funds on the opposite side of a channel. Basically, what users need to do in order to actually receive the money that was sent from other people. This can be a very complicated problem for merchants, which can be an issue for adoption.
Even some people on the latest marketing campaign made by the Lightning Network developers, the Lightning Torch, have found issues with inbound capacity.
Now, Rochard plans to use his new app in order to make it easier for people to upgrade their own inbound capacity. There are other services doing it at the moment, including Thor (Bitrefill) and Lightning Loop (Lightning Labs), but the creator of the new app (obviously) claims that his solution is the better one.
Lightning Power Users indeed has its own approach to the problem. Unlike similar services like Thor, it is easier to simply set up small channels that will be open for only a small time. Instead of creating a channel that will remain open and will be more complex to operate, this is a one-off solution. You simply open the channel, use it and it will be shut down forever soon.
Rochard believes that this service has many advantages. According to him, Bitcoin is not really decentralized if you only rely on a handful of services, so his goal is to provide a reliable alternative that can be used especially by the people who just want to set up quick channels in an automated way.
In fact, the developer has been working with the LN technology for a while now. The already developed a node launcher before that helped to make the network more effectively decentralized and faster.
Initial users who have already tested the service have affirmed that they are very happy with it and that the fees are “reasonable” for what it offers.
The Future of the Lightning Network
Rochard deems this inbound capacity problem as one of the main issues that actually plague the Bitcoin LN. According to him, the developers have to find healthy ways to deal with the issue, as it can be painful for the receiving end of the transactions to set up the channels if the process if not optimized.
In the long run, he believes, the teams will find out the perfect way to deal with the problem and he wants to be a part of the solution, which is why he developed this software in the first place.
He also affirmed that there is the possibility to use machine learning in the future to basically create an “autopilot” feature, which could be used to create the inbound capacity automatically without any real problem. Dual funded channels, which are set to be released soon by the LN, can also help a lot in this problem.
