Blockchain-Based Non-Profit, the Pluto, Strives to Provide for Malnourished Children
Malnourishment in Africa continues to grow, especially in the poorest regions. While many find ways to donate to charities, a lot of them do not keep their promises. The Pluto has been created as a way to help malnourished children, unlike traditional organizations, the team plans on giving them what they require without any theft involved.
Co-founder of the Pluto, Johnny Walter Tovar Trujillo has previous experience dealing with aid organizations. He mentioned:
“participates in UNICEF, UNHCR, etc. and most of the volunteers are dedicated to do their best. Unfortunately, Trujillo believes that aid organizations consider what’s best for them, suggesting that such parties, “are violating the rights of the poor and starving locals for a penny […] instead of actually giving them the help they need”.
He did not stop at blaming aid organizations – considering them too inefficient in helping one to their benefit – but he also included company donations. In general, when a company makes a donation, it has two advantages. According to Trujillo, companies who make a large donation, “most of it goes back to them”, which he stated in discussing tax evasion. The second advantage is the most obvious, support and reputable name for their contributions.
Apparently, when such donations make it back to the companies who made them in the first place, they are returned as “illegal funds”, which typically goes unreported.
As for the Pluto project, it supposedly has already secured several partnerships with those interested in making a difference. The entire project is dubbed, “The Pluto Alliance”, which according to Trujillo aims to bring people together and such mutuality is key for making a difference.
Trujillo ends his discussion with a proposed question, to which he provides an answer. Here is what he said:
“What kind of dream should we share with our children? They are suffering and struggling, even right at this moment. There should be no more greed to take advantage of them. We must make sure that everything is transparent. Now you have to seriously consider my proposal.”
