Privacy Coin Zcash Launches Sapling Upgrade: Here’s What Changed
Zcash, the privacy-focused coin, which is currently prices at about $110 USD per token, has finally completed its Sapling update. The company has implemented its network hard fork on the block 419,200. The upgrade was planned for a long time before it was released and its main goal was to make the network faster and more secure.
The activation of the new protocol will happen only days after the second birthday of the token and there are already predictions that we will turn the transactions into something that will take only 10% of the time and 3% of the memory.
Also, the transactions will now be shielded by default instead of letting the users have the option to shield them. This, the creators believe, will bring more stability for the whole ecosystem and also making shielding more efficient as the whole system will be protected.
However, users will still be able to make “transparent” transactions, they will only have to choose them, the main difference is that these transactions will simply stop to be the norm in the ecosystem. Shielded addresses will also start to work more like Monero and other tokens that are focused on privacy as the upgrade is implemented.
Even with all the good news, Elise Hadmon, from the Zerocoin Electric Coin Company, has affirmed that the new protocol will need some testing yet to further address some issues. However, the protocol is operational and mostly will be very useful for the people who are interested in using this new version of the ZEC tokens.
The New Improvements
Basically, the memory needed for the transactions was reduced by using the upgraded protocol, which had a direct effect on the speed of the transactions. This will also be very important for the implementation of the Zcash mobile network in the near future.
People will also now be able to access transaction information without exposing their private keys, which can also be used for mobile users that do not want to carry this important important information with them. This shows that there is a serious focus on the mobile experience now and will make these products much more efficient.
This upgrade is a major step for the technology of Zcash and will possibly have a big impact in its future and in the future of many others privacy-centric tokens that will still appear in the market after ZEC.
All the major exchanges in the market are set to support this new update if they already support ZEC. This means that the withdrawal process will be easier.
