Questions Abound as Roger Ver Relinquishes his Label as the CEO of Bitcoin.com
Could it be that the vocal, controversial and much-hated Bitcoin Cash backer who never minces his words, Roger Ver, has been silently stripped off his role as the CEO of Bitcoin.com?
Well, it seems that is exactly the case, according to @roryhighside, an eagle-eyed Twitter user. Apparently, the immediate former CEO of Bitcoin.com, Ver is now listed on the company’s latest revamped website as being its executive chairman.
The Changes Probably Happened Quietly Overnight
Roger Ver, according to a snippet of the now-archived website of Bitcoin.com, had been listed as the CEO, a position he held even recently on July 24. However, upon checking out the newly updated website, it is clear he has been moved to the role of Executive Chairman and replaced by Stefan Rust.
Rust, on his LinkedIn profile, took over from Ver in July, having previously served for six months as the platform’s global head of corporate and business development. But what puzzles is why the changes have been silent without public communication so far.
Was the Change Necessitated by Ver’s Shady and Often Questionable Past?
Bitcoin.com is getting ready to launch a fully-fledged crypto exchange at exchange.bitcoin.com. The platform is slated to go live in September, even though the platform has already an alternative to LocalBitcoins.
However, there’s a large possibility that the change is not linked to the looming launch, but rather Ver’s recent tirade to President Trump. It could be a form of damage control on the brand’s reputation after the animated tweetstorm in the wake of the president’s attack on crypto.
Just recently, the embattled founder of Bitcoin.com escaped a libel lawsuit in the UK. Craig “Satoshi Nakamoto” Wright had sued him but was unable to prove that indeed Ver had damaged his reputation in the UK.
But there’s more!
Roger Ver seemingly derives lots of pleasure trying to confuse cryptocurrency enthusiasts on how Bitcoin Cash differs from Bitcoin. And this is even highlighted on the new website where the words “BITCOIN.COM IS NOT BITCOIN” are plainly written.
Roger Ver has previously sponsored the ill-fated “Bitcoin Cash is Bitcoin” crusade. He has hitherto supported Craig Wright’s assertion that he’s the pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto.
He sensationally claimed that Wright played a crucial role in the hard fork that gave birth to Bitcoin Cash. It should be noted that Craig Wright is the same guy who recently sued Ver in the UK.
In fact, it is only recently that Ver, via a post on Twitter, warned the general public against buying BTC in 2019, saying the cryptocurrency is a decoy of BCH and those buying them are being fooled.
Up to press time, neither Roger Ver nor Bitcoin.com had made the changes public.
