R3 Founder Finds Security Aspect Of Mining “Pretty Scary,” Shares All During MCC 2019

Prague-based, Braiins, company operating Slush Pool, a crypto-mining pool, launched the Braiins OS Cobalt sometime last year. The reason for having taken this path in their operations was merely to due users’ requests, who most often asked about mining firmware issues.

Today, Braiins OS, not only provides mining endpoints, but has also been deemed, “a system for cryptocurrency embedded devices,” allowing users the, “ability to customize it and enjoy significant power saving and performance improvements.”

During the recently held Magical Crypto Conference 2019, Co-Founder and CEO of Braiins, Pavel Movarek shared his view point on the current mining situation from a security stance, which he deems “pretty scary” and shared what needs to be done to tackle this, reports AMB Crypto.

Initially, Movarek started off by talking more about Braiins OS, which he trusts is equivalent to “having your keys under your control”. What seems to have left him uneasy, is the security aspect of mining, adding that, “a user should have the opportunity to choose what firmware it runs, it allows the new features or whatever, but the security thing is a critical one.”

As for the overall popularity in mining activities, Movarek revealed that it is true that there’s an increase in mining activity coming from institutions and that these entities have dived and since invested into the necessary hardware and are participating in ASICs’ operations.

He seems to be relieved by said presence of players, as he finds that it will help a lot in terms of security. In particular, he said,

“We still face a lot of miners who cannot do the security right, so every single piece of the infrastructure can help everybody in the space getting more secured.”

Braiins To Undergo Rebranding, More Plans In Place For The Future

On Thursday, May 30, it has been reported by Crypto Ninjas that Braiins will be rebranding itself after having indulged six years of time into Slush Pool.

According to the co-CEO, Jan Capek has since shared the reason for such a move as simply being the need for a “unified and smooth branding,” for future products that the team will bring to the table. The way in which this will be executed entails creating updates for Slush Pool and Braiins OS, while planning new initiatives to be launched in the latter half of the year.
