Rap Artist MC Lil Pump’s Fashion Line ‘Unhappy’ to Accept Bitcoin Payments via Lightning Network
Bitcoin and the rest of the cryptocurrency world have been a place of interest for the millennial generation, which is why many retailers are working on ways that Bitcoin can be spent. Multiple companies have initiated the release of crypto debit cards, but there are many merchants still working to make room for crypto without any particular hardware. In an announcement from NewsBTC, an 18-year old rap musician decided to get involved with Bitcoin as well.
Lil’ Pump is the owner of his own fashion line called “Unhappy,” and he’s decided to make it possible for his fans to purchase merchandise from the line with Bitcoin. Even though this small change may not help with the adoption of cryptocurrency around the world, it will definitely expose the digital asset industry to the rapper’s 1.24 million followers. Most of these people are probably familiar with Bitcoin, but the new Lightning Network implementation with this publicity may end up helping the publicity of Bitcoin overall.
At this point, the Lightning Network has already had a good year. This scaling solution for micropayments ensures that transactions can be settled off-chain, which makes Bitcoin a bit faster to spend. There have already been multiple people to advertise how well this solution works, including Jack Dorsey, Elon Musk, and Miss Universe. Lil’ Pump is just one of the most recent supporters.

Right now, despite the growing number of companies that are getting involved with Bitcoin, there still have not really been any major names from traditional industries. The most well-known business involved before the announcement by Lil’ Pump was LiveJasmin, a website for live webcam models. Hopefully, there will soon be companies with a more widespread consumer base to join as well.
Rap music has started to include more mentions of cryptocurrency lately, which should not be surprising, considering how much of the lyrics center around the contempt for authority and love of money. Eminem and Soulja Boy have both incorporated Bitcoin into their music, with the album Kamikaze using a lyric that says,
“Remember everybody used to bite Nickel, now everybody doing Bitcoin.”
