A Bitcoin (BTC) puzzle was recently released onto the r/Bitcoin subreddit; leaving some shocked and others eagerly trying to find the solution to it. Apparently, its release came with a caption that indicated, “1 BTC is hidden in this puzzle. Good luck!”. In as little as two days, the post flooded with over 1700 comments, with many suggesting what the solution may be and exchanging different perspectives.
The BTC puzzle [seen here] was supposedly created by “user cryptogreetings”, a Reddit account associated with www.cryptogreetings.com – offering consumers several greeting cards that had to do with the concept of cryptocurrencies altogether.
As for the clues given to crypto fanatics worldwide, it has been displayed in the form of a word map and gave a breakdown of how Bitcoin came to life, who was responsible, and the entire journey behind BTC. This is what was presented:
“This work is comprised of Satoshi Nakamoto’s famous whitepaper words, scaled by Log N. Disparate ideas inspired Satoshi to create a solution to revolutionize modern socio-economics and industry. The work reflects on the elements that brought this technology to life and challenges the underlying security model. Hidden in plain sight lies something more: a treasure hunt. 1 BTC is concealed within the work.”
Since the release of the BTC puzzle, Redditors were quick to notice that there were 239 BIP39 seed words in the poster, which are phrases used to secure one’s account in the event that one loses his or her wallet. The seed words could be that needed to generate a private key for a Bitcoin wallet, however, almost half of the suggested words can easily be eliminated – rising confusion among the community.
After two days, the puzzle remains unsolved. The puzzle is currently on sale for approximately $299, this may imply that it was merely a marketing stunt to promote an upcoming artwork called “Hidden in Plain Sight”. Regardless, the Reddit community is continuing their steps in figuring out what 24 words might make up the key. At the same time, many believe that it will definitely be too hard, or even impossible, as the number is close to 620448401733239439360000.
For the time being, seven clues have been given. Will Redditors prove that when a community comes together there is no such thing as ‘impossible’?
