Recently, we reported Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin shared his attempt at trying to be an intern at Ripple in 2013, in response to Coinbase founder Brian Armstrong sharing a piece on Eric Yuan, the Zoom CEO who is now a billionaire and had his US visa refused eight times.
Just like Yuan, Buterin’s attempt at an internship at Ripple couldn’t be realized due to US visa complications and the company being around for only 9 months when the minimum requirement has been 1 year.
“Fun fact: I tried to be an intern at Ripple back in the day (mid 2013), but US visa complications having to do with the fact that the company had only existed for 9 months and the minimum was 1 year stopped me,”
In response, Buterin’s competitor Justin Sun, the founder of Tron cryptocurrency and the CEO of BitTorrent, who are constantly shading each other, shared how if Buterin had made it, they would have become
During 2013 to 2016, before starting Tron, Sun was the Chief Representative and Advisor of Ripple Labs in the Greater China area. As per his LinkedIn profile, from 2014, Sun also served as a Special Representative and Advisor of Ripple Labs.
“When I found out these facts from @justmoon in late 2013/early 2014, had we both been at Ripple, I am certain we would have been buddies since we would have been the only 2 millennials there!”
Now, in response to Buterin’s attempt, David Schwartz, the CTO at Ripple asked Buterin “jokingly” to apply again as Ripple is always looking for “good” interns.
“That still saddens me. Think of the great things you might have accomplished! Maybe apply again? We're always looking for good interns,”
However, it didn’t go well with some people as one Twitter user said,
“This's so arrogant reply David. I think he deserves a lot of respect what he achieved at such a young age.”
“I'm joking. Vitalik knows I have nothing but respect for him and his work,”
