Ripple-Powered Santander UK’s One Pay Fx App Goes Live in a New Corridor
- Santander’s internal payment platform One Pay Fx app is powered by xCurrent
- The app now supports payments to Poland from U.K. – “no fees, best ex rate, smooth payment experience”
Santander UK’s One Pay Fx app has achieved another major milestone – now supporting payments in the new corridor of UK to Poland.
Marcus Treacher, the global head of strategic accounts at Ripple shared his excitement with the tweet,
“Powered by Ripple & great to see this important payment corridor go live.”
Santander UK is one of the leading personal financial services companies in the UK, wholly owned by the Spanish Santander Group.
Ana Botín, Executive Chairman of Santander had said earlier in April this year that this initiative has them covering 50 percent of all the FX payments that the Santander Group does annually. This, she said has been because of the rails they are using that is Ripple.
One Pay Fx app is Santander’s internal payment platform powered by Ripple, to be accurate its product xCurrent.
Back in March, Santander bank wrongly gave the Ripple fans hope after confusing XRP with Ripple, clarifying it is only using xCurrent. However, its latest version that is xCurrent 4.0 provides “seamless” access to xRapid that leverages the digital asset.
So, if the client wants, they can access xRapid, likely affecting the demand for XRP.
In the meantime, the third-largest cryptocurrency is currently trading at $0.314 with 24 hours loss of almost 7 percent.
Expanding the Territory
A few days back, Santander UK released the 1.3.1 version of the app that enables the UK-Poland payments corridor. This means now UK customers can now send Polish złoty (PLN) payments to Poland.
“Santander UK’s One Pay FX app now supports payments to Poland from U.K. – no fees, best ex rate, smooth payment experience,”
shared one enthusiast.
Through this app, retail customers can make a payment of up to 10,000 GBP a day to the US, eurozone countries, and Poland at a decent exchange rate.
Officially launched last year, the app is fast expanding its territories that they serve. The main advantage of this platform is that anyone, even those who aren’t Santander customers can also use it. Additionally, even unbanked people can conduct money transactions across the globe.
