Ripple User Loses Funds, Active XRP Community of Crypto Twitter Jumps In To Help
If there is anything that can be said about the XRP community, it is that they bond together. When Twitter user XRP4Fam posted about their loss of both BTC and XRP from his ledger, it gained a lot of activity and attention.
I just got my XRP and Bitcoin stolen from my ledger… I'm devastated and do not know who to contact. The hacker got access to my phrases and transfers all the crypto to a binance account. Please someone help…@cz_binance @binance @digitalassetbuy @AlexCobb_ @CKJCryptonews

However, attention was not enough, and the XRP community decided to spring into action.
Thanks everyone for retweeting this. I knew the XRP community was great already. But this tragedy happening to me…. I just cannot believe it…. please retweet to keep the awareness up. Thanks again

The tweet explained that XRP4Fam’s phrases had been stolen by a hacker and that he had no idea who to contact to help him solve this issue. However, he tagged the Binance Twitter page, along with Changpeng Zhao to help. Zhao responded by saying that the user needs to file a support ticket.
please file a support ticket at https://t.co/NnyTsSGCb4 with the transaction details ASAP. We have a standard workflow for this.

However, the user explained that the team was unable to determine the user who ended up taking the funds.
Hi @cz_binance thank you for your response. They have told me that they cannot identify the user. How did they transfer so much funds without being verified? The funds were all withdrawn
to other accounts. Please look into this further. The thief must be stopped.— XRP4Family (@Xrp4Fam) April 6, 2019
Luckily, Zhao saw the problem and decided to take action. He got the user’s ticket number, discovering the that seed was compromised.
what's your support ticket number? I will have a look.
Also, how did your seed get compromised? How did you store it?

The seed words, which is also known as a mnemonic, are basically the key to gaining access to crypto funds. The user says that this phrase was stored on a note-taking application from a third party, and he said that the application was hacked. Though the phone and computer of the user were not hacked, it appears that the app did via an online attack or an information leak.
One of the biggest proponents of the XRP community, Tiffany Hayden, jumped into the conversation, telling the user that XRP proponent XRPTrump is more supportive of exchanges. The proponent added that having a user hold their own keys is risky, though there are disagreements about this in the community.
Digital wallets are like a portal or an interface to the XRP Ledger. When you hold $XRP, you have an account on the ledger with an identifying address. You can use any portal (wallet) you want to access your account, as long as you have your secret key.https://t.co/iQHHggRgVZ

At this point, there has been no update of the lost funds. However, the user posted a screenshot for more help, showing activity that the hacker must have taken beforehand.
Can anybody verify what this means?
Failed escrow, undefined, and escrow created? Before the hacker moved the funds they tried to do something it seems.@JoelKatz @CKJCryptonews @cz_binance @AlexCobb_ @digitalassetbuy pic.twitter.com/hzIYNnBu9w— XRP4Family (@Xrp4Fam) April 7, 2019
