[Satoshi Nomore?] Craig Wright’s Twitter Account Disappears Along with 10,000 Of His Tweets
You may have heard of Craig Steven Wright, one of the most controversial figures among the crypto world. The Australian computer scientist’s Twitter account, @ProfFaustus, vanished recently and the whole community started to get curious about what why has this happened.
A lot of people have started to debate why this happened since then and some people have found very interesting information. According to them, who used a tracking tool called SocialBlade, around 10,000 tweets were removed from the account in the last 24 hours. What could this mean?
SocialBlade can be used to track this kind of information even when the owner of the account has shut it down, so people used it to determine that despite Craig Wright having around 38 thousand tweets two days ago, he has only 27 thousand now.
The Controversial “Faketoshi”
When we say that Wright is controversial, this is not an exaggeration at all. The man, which was one of the people who supported the latest Bitcoin Cash hard fork, which was used to create Bitcoin Satoshi Vision (SV), is known for his strong statements.
One of the most serious ones was when Wright claimed that he was the real Satoshi Nakamoto, the person (or group of people) who created Bitcoin. As Satoshi’s identity was never public, anyone could affirm this, which prompted the community to call Wright the “Faketoshi”.
Despite having some strong support of the Bitcoin SV community, the fact is that Wright’s popularity dropped a lot since last year when he made several threats during the Bitcoin ABC and SV split.
He was even called a fraud by Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of the Ethereum network, last year. He took issue with some of the claims made by the developer and called him out.
Before this all happened, Wright tweeted on March 17 that he would “take action aggressively to remove any site that is in error or make false claims”, which just sounded like one of this many threats.
Perhaps the profile being down has something to do with that, perhaps not. It is too early to tell, that’s for sure.
While no answer is provided as to what is happening right now, the community can only speculate and you can bet that this is exactly what they will do. Wright is a very controversial figure and the crypto community loves a mystery, so people will certainly come up with all kinds of theories about it until we have some solid information.
