Say Hello to Blockstream Green: All-New Premium Bitcoin Crypto Asset Storage Option
As per an all new announcement made yesterday, blockchain and crypto tech firm ‘Blockstream’ has just unveiled its latest Bitcoin wallet offering — ‘Blockstream Green’ — to the world.
In its most basic sense, “Green” can be thought of as a major update to Blockstream's existing GreenAddress wallet (a product the company acquired in 2016). However, the storage solution has been deconstructed and built from scratch again, so as to provide users with better speed and functionality.
Additionally, it is also worth mentioning that with this new release, Blockstream is now providing its latest app to users in a range of different languages such as Chinese, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Russian, and Ukrainian.
Elaborating on the wallet’s key new features and overall ease of use, Blockstream CSO ‘Samson Mow’ was quoted as saying:
“Blockstream Green is set to become a window into the Bitcoin infrastructure that Blockstream has been building over the years, and integration with the Liquid Network is a key part of our plans. In addition to Green's advanced Bitcoin services, the app will soon make it easy for Liquid users to securely store and transact their Liquid assets on the go.”
Lastly, it should also be pointed out that Blockstream Green’s design is completely open-source based and comes pre-built with two new software libraries.
Green’s Key Features
- Multisig 2FA: Green offers customers with multisig protection modules that are extremely useful in protecting one’s storage devices from third party hacks and theft.
- Added Hardware Support: In order to maximize the security of one’s funds, Android users have the option to take their keys offline with a Trezor or Ledger hardware wallet.
- Privacy Driven/Oriented: In order to set-up one’s account, the wallet owner does not need to undergo any sort of KYC or provide his/her personal documents or information to the company.
- Node Integration: Green allows users to minimize their trust on third party entities by allowing them to specify a full node for SPV.
In rounding off this piece, it should be added that Blockstream Green is now ready for download from Apple’s App Store as well as from Google Play.
Additionally, open source data related to the ‘Green Development Kit’ and ‘libwally’ are now available for download from GitHub.
