Bittrex Doesn’t Want To Give Back $100k To Customer
A Redditor decided to ask for help on the recognized social media network saying that he lost $100,000 with Bittrex sending Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin SV together. He said that he contacted Bittrex but they do not give him an answer about his funds.
He wrote about it:
“Just lost 100k with Bittrex sending BCH together with BSV. Somehow half of BCH been transferred together with BSV. Bittrex doesn't want to return my funds. …. Does anyone have contacts of higher managers, or their financial support to fix this issue directly? All I get is typical replies like from a robot.”
Some of the users said that if he sent BCH to a BSV address, then the exchange would recover the funds for the user for a fee of 0.1 BTC. This is in order to pay for the expenses related to the process of recovering these funds. The user also explained that if he sent one BCH and the BSV moved from his wallet, that was a replay attack and Bittrex cannot do anything with it.
It is worth mentioning that users were very clear that this was his fault since he should have been more cautious while sending funds to the exchange. This episode shows that dealing with virtual currencies is something that should be done cautiously. If just a letter of an address is different, then the funds would go to another address, which means they can be lost forever.
It is always important to double check the parameters needed to confirm transactions. Blockchains cannot be modified if a mistake happens. They are immutable, and if a user wants his funds back after sending them to a mistaken wallet, that would not be possible.
