SEC To Host Blockchain And Crypto Public Forum May 2019
The SEC recently announced that it plans to hold a fintech forum to discuss distributed ledger technology and digital assets. The forum, which will be held on May 31, 2019, in the SEC’s Washington, DC headquarters, is being organized by the agency’s Strategic Hub for Innovation and Financial Technology (FinHub).
According to the announcement, this is the second such forum to be hosted by the agency and this will feature “panelists from industry and academia, and is designed to foster greater communication and understanding around issues involving DLT and digital assets.” The panelists are expected to discuss and explore topics including digital asset platforms, initial coin offerings, DLT innovations, and the ways in which these technologies impact investors and the markets.
In a separate announcement, the SEC released its agenda for the forum. Based on the agenda, a few of the panels include topics such as:
- Capital Formation Considerations
- Trading and Markets Considerations
- Investment Management Considerations
- Distributed Ledger Technology Innovations: Industry Trends and Specific Use Cases for Financial Markets
Also according to the announcement, the panel discussions feature panelists from companies such as Ernst & Young, Deloitte, IBM, and Fidelity.
