Shift is a new blockchain company which is focused on creating apps that will disrupt many companies and the industry as they reach the market. Their main app is Phantom, a new hosting solution projected to disrupt the hosting app.
What Is Shift's Phantom dApp?
Shift was created with a single concept in mind: create killer apps. But what is a killer app? They cite the example of the VisiCalc on the Apple II, which is a program that basically helped the Apple II computer to get a lot of success back in the 80s.
Right now, the company is focused on using the current blockchain technology to create “killer” decentralized apps (dapps) which will be able to get a level of unprecedented success in the industry and really be able to disrupt markets.
Shift’s “Killer Dapp”: Phantom
At the moment Phantom is Shift’s main killer dapp. Why? Because it is a hosting solution that uses the blockchain technology and has the potential to revolutionize the internet.
The Phantom dapp will be used to create a new decentralized version of the internet. How? By providing a low cost and easy to use hosting infrastructure that, unlike the traditional model, is decentralized, so it saves money and protects the user from censorship and hacker attacks because of the decentralization of the data.
The first official app of Shift will have its own sidechain that will be connected to the mainchain. You will be able to send files and to communicate with outside of the chains.
Other features of the Shift blockchain are the Jenga DNS which will monitor the nodes and point to unhealthy DNS records that will be removed from the cluster. The other one is the Hydra CMS, which will be a content management system that will be written in Java and will be compatible with IPFS.
How Shift Blockchain Hosting Data Storage & Web Wallet Works
Shift will be accessible via an open source blockchain and will have a layered structure. The developers who decide to use this platform will be able to create decentralized applications on the mainchain which will be able to connect to other sidechains.
This decision will be made in a democratic way and each vote is equal to the quantity of tokens that an user is holding.
Shift's Phantom dApp Tokens
Most of the dapps will use the company’s tokens. Unfortunately, there is no ICO planned, so your only option would be to acquire them via exchanges. At the moment, the company is making an effort to get more exchanges to accept its token, which will increase its market and make it easier for other people to get it.
Shift's Phantom dApp Verdict
This is a very interesting company that has potential of really being the platform for interesting dapps. On the other hand, it has tough competitors which are already more established like Ethereum and EOS. Because of this, we are not 100% how successful this company will be.
