Simpsons Predicts Cryptocurrencies Will Replace Future Fiat Currencies

Guest star Jim Parsons on the Simpsons TV show has explained the cryptocurrency concept and a bit of Blockchain Tech. It’s not the first time the animated show has made predictions on future events that come to pass.

In a most recent episode aired of the Simpsons animated show whose focal point was cryptocurrency. Through a guest starring Jim Parsons who explained to Lisa a character on the show how cryptocurrencies work.

In the episode there is a cartoonish distributed ledger detailing in a theatrical performance what a distributed ledger is in layman’s language. A consensus of shared and synchronized data that is spread across multiple platforms without Geographical barriers drawing closer to becoming the currency of the future the cartoon ledger further sang.

“Not in your wallet, I'm in your computer!”

There is a scene where in text on the screen they admit that their successive use of the word cryptocurrency while explaining cryptocurrency might make them look like they aren’t really familiar with the topic. They however failed to explain the vulnerabilities that might arise from adoption of cryptocurrencies.

Tendency of Simpson’s predicting truths

The animation has a habit of making rather accurate predictions. They happened to predict US president Donald Trump’s presidency over ten years ago. They also happened to feature an episode in early 1995 regarding smart watches which were not invented until 2013.

Notably this has not been the first show that has given insights to cryptocurrency. In a Big Bang Theory episode aired in 2017 the characters with Jim Parsons role as Sheldon Cooper set off to find some Bitcoin they had mined earlier after the BTC hit the $5000 mark.

There have also been other numerous shows that have dedicated entire episodes to cryptocurrencies. This includes HBO’s Silicon Valley, Person of Interest, House of Cards and even Mr. Robot.

This has sparked interests from the cryptocurrency community with some at how well articulated the Simpsons episode was. The Altcoin Daily through their official twitter lauded the episode.
