The team announced their project in July 2017. To ensure their fractionalized real estate platform was legal, they worked with a leading San Francisco law firm to create the contracts (like the contract signed between buyers and the homeowner).

Currently, SmartRE is in private beta. They plan to have an invitation-only public beta in late September, with a full public release in late October and early November.

  1. I ended up investing 500$ to see how things are. Doesn’t look like a scam, project seems interesting. How does it compare with Atlant ?

  2. I’m a bit confused as to how this actually works in the end. For example, I own a property worth $250k. I tokenize $50k worth of the property to investors. I then sell my property. How is my mortgage tied into the investor’s holdings? What’s to stop me from tokenizing 49% of the equity and then simply selling the property, leaving the investors high and dry?
