The French startup known as Snips is announcing its Initial Coin Offerings (ICO) aiming to gather funds to release a voice assistant which will be focused on privacy and will be connected with other devices.
There are different voice assistants in the market, including the ones from important companies. But they do not pay attention to privacy as much as Snips’ voice assistant. At the moment, it is possible to download the open source Snips SDK and try the different features that it has. It is possibly to connect it with a Raspberry pi, a microphone and a speaker and see the functionalities included.

The company explains that its product is private by design and allows people to use it without even being connected to the internet. At the same time, different companies are able to work with Snips so as to embed a voice assistant in their own devices as well.
Another important feature is that Snips will be adding a B2C element. The main intention is to compete with Amazon Echo and Google Home speakers. It will be possible to buy the Snips AIR Base and Snips AIR Satellites. The Base will work as a speaker that could be located in small rooms, while the satellites would be portable devices which could be located in all other places. The company believes that these products will be in the market in 18 months.

It is important to mark that the Snip devices will not be sending the information to a centralized service, like Google or Amazon do. Instead, it will offer weather, control music, alarms, in a decentralized way.
Moreover, developers will have the possibility to create different skills and publish them on the marketplace that will run the AIR blockchain. This marketplace will be accepting AIR tokens so as to buy more skills, generate training data for voice commands.
