Socios 2.0: Tokenizing Fan Clubs Within the Football Industry
chiliZ, a fintech platform that promotes a tokenized voting platform to get sports fans more involved has created Socios.com. The effort is supposedly a way to not only allow football fans to enjoy viewing, but the platform will also allow them to buy, trade and execute voting or ‘crowd managers’ rights in their preferred teams. As for the finances, chiliZ will be contributing $20 million into Socios.com as a way to unleash its potential via mainstream.
According to the claims made, this platform was formed on the “Socios concept”, which is currently in its testing phase – with many supporting the idea. This will also be the world’s first scalable, tokenized voting platform to ever exist, which makes chiliZ’s efforts a competitive advantage.
Alexandre Dreyfus, CEO of Mediarex believes that Socios.com can help football teams increase their presence among fans, adding that,
“Football teams to create a completely new economy that can be monetized, whilst building a new fan engagement ecosystem. We understand that this will bring a certain degree of disruption to an established industry, and it will no doubt require a lot of education, but the first mover advantage will be critical […] for a new democratic, digital and international standard in club management.”
Another facet that the Socios concept contributed to is the currently developing, desktop and mobile platform. Based on provided data, both tools will help to enhance the esports industry through fans’ involvement. There are already some platforms that exist including the likes of Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and FC Bayern Munich, which are run by 90,000, 145,000 and 290,000 fans respectively.
The entirety of Socios.com can help bring together the 4 billion football fans that exist worldwide to 1000 UEFA clubs and over 2300 professional football teams in place. In particular, fans no longer need to feel of a barrier to participate, as the geographic concern will be lifted.
As for the official release of the Socios.com platform, the chiliZ/ Socios team of over 25 industry experts have stated that the platform will be introduced during the World Football Summit, which is to take place in September. In addition, a potential list of partnerships will be unveiled.
