SONM And Teleport Team Up To Create A Decentralized Blockchain Content Delivery Network (CDN)
SONM And Teleport Have Partnered To Help Power The Decentralized Blockchain Driven CDN
One of the decentralized computing platforms, SONM, has just announced the partnership they have gotten into with Teleport. Teleport has been established as a blockchain driven CDN project, and the partnership that both companies have gotten into is to power the Teleport CDN with the computing resources that are available on the SONM platform.
Both Companies Are Compatible To Work Together
In November of this year, both companies went ahead to carry out several integration tests, tests that were able to show the Teleports CDN software will be able to work on the SONM platform adequately, it is clear that the current operations parameters look good for both, as the performance is acceptable and the deal they have established makes a lot of sense for the CDN business.
As a result, Teleport will be able to scale the on demand that can be on an affordable and a flexible resource pool, as they will be able to get the needed computing resources at the specific and desired geographical locations.
For the SONM company, they also stand a chance to benefit as the use case will be able to create the additional demands and even the usage for the SONM computing power. In particular, the resources that will be in need is the networks and the disks, resources that have commonly been underutilized with their current demand profile.
It is clear this partnership will benefit both companies; this is in economic efficiency and the optimization of resource utilization. For a very long time, the internet users had to make the clear choice on where they could lend their PC computing power; this was either to Teleport or SONM, or just find other projects in the market.
The SONM company has been focusing on the CPU and GPU utilization, these are the resources that are usually required in the machine learning and the CGI-rendering tasks. And in these instances the resources such as the networks and disks get underutilized.
As for the Teleport company they mainly focus on the content delivery, which has been able to utilize the network and disk resources properly; thus, this would leave the GPU to be idle. With these two utilization profiles, it is clear they have a high potential to get technologically merged, which is the motivation behind the partnership.
How Will The New Scheme Be Working?
– The Teleport CDN will be acting as the power computing consumer of SONM, this is by ensuring they have adequately utilized the networks and disk that are on the SONM platform. SONM has had other consumers on their platform who have been using the CPU/RAM and GPU. Therefore, this will be able to create a balanced utilization profile and be able to maximize on the revenue.
– The SONM platform will act as the Teleport computing power supplier. The Teleport company has already acquired its own devices and networks, but for the big streaming projects together with the on-demand loads will require some additional on-demand computing power, and this is where the SONM platform comes in.
– Both projects will form a technological stack; this is where one of the projects will be working on the foundation of the other, thus, being able to create a synergistic effect between the two.
– With the partnership in place, when you install the SONM on to your PC, it may mean that your PC will soon be running on the Teleport node. Also, while they use the Teleport CDN, it might mean that the streaming nodes will be running on top of the SONM laas network.
Both Teams Are Well Acquainted
Both companies have known each other for the past one year, and during this period they have both been keen with each other's projects. From the initial stages, both companies have considered the idea of combining the advanced SONM fog computing together with the decentralized Teleport CDN technology to be used in a single application.
