Spanish Car Maker SEAT to Develop Blockchain Solutions Through Partnership With Alastria
Spanish car manufacturers SEAT recently announced that they are going to join Alastria to develop blockchain solutions to help with urban mobility initiative.
The company proposes to experiment blockchain in several divisions, firstly in production and manufacturing, and then in finance, where it will test new initiatives to optimize standard procedures. Through this product they assure reliable and tested data exchange, and the Alastria consortium intends to accelerate the creation of a common collaborative platform and ecosystem providing a digital ID, ‘ID Alastria’, for all individuals and participants, including private citizens who will have control over their personal information in their interactions with, for example, public agencies or educational institutions.
SEAT president Luca de Meo said in a statement:
“Being a part of the Alastria network opens up new possibilities for developing services and products with complete confidence and security… We are convinced of the importance that blockchain technology will have in the future, and for this reason, we want to be involved from the outset.”
Sociedad Española de Automóviles de Turismo (SEAT) is a Spanish automobile manufacturer with its head office in San Sebastián de Los Reyes, Madrid. It was founded on May 9, 1950, by the Instituto Nacional de Industria (INI), a Spanish state-owned industrial holding company. It quickly became the largest supplier of cars in Spain. In 1986 the Spanish government sold SEAT to the German Volkswagen Group of which it remains a wholly owned subsidiary.
Alastria is the first multi-sectorial consortium promoted by organizations and institutions for the establishment of a semi-public Blockchain/DLT infrastructure, supporting services with legal effectiveness in the Spanish scope and compliant with European regulation. The consortium is open to any organization that wishes to have available a fundamental tool for the development of its own Blockchain/DLT strategy with the aim of distributing and organizing products and services for the Spanish market.
