Streaming Giant, Spotify, to Hire Payment Strategist for ‘Diem Project & Cryptocurrency Space’
- Popular audio streaming subscription service Spotify, which has over 320 million users, is looking ready to take the crypto route.
- The company has posted a job for “Associate Director, Payments Strategy & Innovation” on the recruiting site Lever.
Spotify is looking to make a new addition to its Payments Strategy & Innovation Team, responsible for the payments strategy.
Besides helping in defining and implementing Sportify’s payments strategy, the person will be responsible for leading the company’s activity “within the Libra stablecoin project and wider digital asset & cryptocurrency space.”
Spotify is one of the 27 members of the Diem Association.
Based in London/Stockholm, this position requires extensive experience in developing strategies and solutions in blockchain and digital assets.
The person will be responsible for leading Spotify’s day-to-day engagement with Diem (formerly Libra) and drive for new opportunities and innovation in the emerging ecosystem of distributed ledger technology, blockchains, cryptocurrencies, stablecoins, Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs), and other digital assets, it reads.
As we reported this week, Facebook rebranded Libra as Diem Network in its attempt to gain regulatory approval. The first stablecoin, Diem Dollar, is expected to launch in January 2021, currently awaiting approval from the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA).
