SXSW Crypto Summit: CryptoFriends Austin, TX March 12/13, 2018

Hotel Van Zandt in Austin, Texas is set to host the first-ever blockchain-themed event dubbed the SXSW Crypto Summit during the SXSW (South by Southwest) festival. Bringing together many blockchain enthusiasts, investors and the crypto-enthusiasts under the tagline ‘New Girls on the Block,' SXSW Crypto Summit will be worth visiting. The 3-day meeting poised to take place on 12th and 13th March will bring together some of the most influential women wonks in the blockchain world and Fintech gurus.

The SXSW Crypto Summit Agenda

On the first day, the dignitaries will issue keynote speeches, and participants will engage in panel discussions and presentations with series of fireside chats touching on the blockchain universe. However, pitches for funding presented by selected blockchain startups are reserved for the second day. The final day will, however, be all about wining and dining!

Crypto Friends at SXSW comes at a time when there’s a serious gender discrepancy on the ratio of startup owners in the industry. Though the number of ICOs has been tremendously rising, it’s sad to note that women own a meager 5% of all startups. In 2017, out of the billions of dollars poured into the through Initial Coin Offerings, just $1.46 billion went to the women-led companies, unlike the $58.2 channeled to the male-led ones.

Blockchain technology is founded on the virtues of decentralization, transparency, and efficiency in completion of important projects. And it presents perhaps the best opportunity to for women to even out this discrepancy using the ICOs. Doing so will be a big challenge, and it is the reason for the founding of the ‘New Girls on the Block’ whose purpose is to use the female blockchain pioneers and their roles to empower the female crypto population.
