What Is The Advisor Blockchain and CryptoAsset Council (ABCC)?
Ric Edelman, a prominent financial advisor, developed ABCC after a meeting on June 2018 with Ray Sclafani of ClientWise, Paul Pagnato of Pagnato Karp, Alex Potts of Loring Ward, and Jamie McIntyre of Rewire Capital.
The meeting was concerned with finding a solution to the growing challenge of financial advisors lacking the necessary understanding on the disruptive blockchain technologies and crypto assets, which was Ric’s main motivating factor to forming the Advisor Blockchain and Cryptoasset Council.
Currently, ABCC has already had presentations at major events like Schwab’s IMPACT, TD Ameritrade’s LINC, and Inside ETFs among many others.
How ABCC Works
On the ABCC platform, both registered investment advisers (RIA) and any other leaders in the financial industry can acquire advanced knowledge and understanding on blockchain technologies as well as crypto assets.
The platform also ensures that financial advisors are in a better position to provide their clients with accurate, relevant, timely, and valuable information and advice on these blockchain or crypto asset technologies.
Additionally, the ABCC’s leadership while provide a means for financial advisors to connect with regulators and explore blockchain and crypto assets. The platform also introduces financial advisors to innovators whose products and services have important impacts the RIA community or any other of their clients.

The Advisor Blockchain and Cryptoasset Council are able to provide a wide range of services to its users. This includes:

The Advisor Blockchain and CryptoAsset Council Events
In March 19 – 20, ABCC together with Barron’s Top Independent Advisor Summit was able to host an event at the Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City. The event brought together top financial advisors in the industry and some of the most influential thought leaders in the blockchain and crypto asset sphere.
The speakers during the event included, Mike Alfred the Co-founder & CEO of Digital Assets Data, Ryan Alfred the Managing Partner of Distributed Global, Marty Bicknel the CEO and President at Mariner Wealth Advisors, and Tara Bogard the SVP Business Development of KingdomTrust.
There were also presentations from Joseph Bruzzesi responsible for the Institutional Business Development of BitGo, Loren Coffman the Director of Financial Planning at Edelman Financial Engines and Lex Sokolin the Global Director FinTech Strategy at Autonomous Research among many others.
The event covered a wide range of topics that have direct impacts to blockchain or crypto assets such as close analysis of the blockchain or crypto asset infrastructure, how to purchase or sell cryptocurrencies and assets and the available opportunities in blockchain or crypto investments funds.
Additionally, the speakers hosted during the event touched on cryptocurrency portfolio tracking, prospective and implications of Bitcoin EFTs on advisors and investors. They also covered how to invest in crypto and the available investment opportunities, and whether cryptocurrencies are an alternative asset class.
