The Donation Fund in Bitcoin by Tor Project Aims to Protect Internet Privacy #BitcoinForTor

An announcement was made on a fight against internet surveillance. The decision was made by the individuals who are behind the Tor project.

They have announced the development of a Bitcoin Donation fund, and with this, the group is hoping to have raised $10,000 in just the next few weeks. This will go a long way in funding its current mission of protecting the current internet users who are on privacy online.

The group has been considered to be very important; this is during the time of Edward Snowden whistleblowing. Also during the time of the Arab spring back in 2011. And from this, they have been able to develop several tools that will allow the different internet users to be able to browse in some secrecy.

The Platform Hopes The Fund Will Fight Against Internet Surveillance

As the web page reported it, they stated that the new donation pot had been created towards the labor of love that is ongoing. It is by those who are devoted to Human rights. The fund has been established with a soft cap of about $10,000, one that will run for the next 14 days.

“Every day at the Tor Project, we fight for people everywhere to have private access to an uncensored internet. Tor has become the world’s strongest tool for privacy and freedom online.”

The Project Has Been Designed With Two Options

The fund has about two options that you could donate to the project. The first is either sending it via the BTCPay the second option is directly donating to the Tor Project through the onion option.

The official website has also gone ahead to state the funds that get donated will easily get stored on a custom ledger that is within the Nano S wallet. At the time of writing, there was about $540 Bitcoin that is of the $10,000 soft cap that was already raised. Most of what has been donated are values of $5 and $20 according to the official website.

It Is Created As A Nonprofit Organization

Since it is a nonprofit organization, the platform solely depends on the donations that are made on the site; this is either their users or the fellow advocates of online freedom.

As a result, they have a permanent donation pot that is continuously running on the site. The funds are to be used in the creation of essential tools that will easily allow people to browse without being watched.

With such a feature on their main page, it easily allows for the donations to be made in either crypto coins or use of fiat currency. To make sure each user on the platform can easily donate to the cause.
