The First Ledger Nano X Shipment to Commence May 15th of Genesis Edition Hardware Wallet
After a series of delays coupled with contract termination of about 10% of its entire workforce, Ledger is now set to ship the first batch of the Ledger Nano X hardware wallet. Ledger, a fast-growing French Blockchain startup, is shipping them on May 15th.
Breaking the news via their Twitter outlet, Ledger stated that shipments for the first batch would start a week ahead of those whose package was ordered before March 21st. The rest of the pre-ordered ones will be shipped from May 20th ahead for their general availability at the store shelves by May 27th.
A Slight Review of Ledger Nano X Genesis Edition: Features and Specifications
The soon-to-be-available hardware wallet will bear many near-similar features to that of its predecessor. Some of the features that the Ledger Nano X copied from the Ledger Nano S include its overall look and quality of the construction. However, the fact that it will not have any of the side buttons, having been placed on either side of the screen, is sure to make this wallet a charming one.
Under the hood, what this new hardware wallet comes with is incredible. It seems its makers chose to settle for a whole technology overhaul to accommodate several aspects that its older sibling lacked.
First on this total overhaul is the battery; it comes with one, which essentially means that users will have the freedom to use the device wirelessly reliably. It isn’t easy to use Nano S on the go as one needs to keep it powered everyone one needs to use it.
Enhanced Convenience And User Experience
Another awe-inspiring feature is its massive, HQ display screen. Nano X comes with a large display which, although its bezels are much smaller, the big screen enhances its functionality.
Moreover, this new hardware wallet comes with an incredible connectivity feature known as Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). The essence of BLE is to allow users to remotely connect their Nano X hardware wallets to an Android or iOS smartphone or tablet even without using an ordinary cable. One will only need to download the Ledger Live Mobile app and use it.
Increased Storage Functionality
Nano X allows one to safely and securely store private keys of as many as over 100 digital assets. With this feature, you can be confident of getting all your valued resources stored. And considering that it now supports over 1,100 cryptocurrency types, this feature suitably makes this hardware wallet suitable for its purpose.
Just like Ledger Nano S, the Nano X comes fully set to withstand all types of attacks. It is fitted with the certified Secure Element (CCEAL5+), a secure chip that can effectively ward off attacks and safely store all that’s contained in it.
Will This New Hardware Wallet Match The Success Of Its Predecessor?
For wallet hardware dubbed “a new era cryptocurrency security in the mobile market,” it is easy to guess how successful it will be; after all, it is feature-rich and looks a lot more practical as a digital asset wallet than the Ledger Nano S. But whether it will be more popular than its sibling or not remains to be seen.
If indeed the Nano S sold over a million units as of January 2018, then the Nano X has a massive challenge ahead. Experts expect the demand for this new hardware wallet to match that of Nano S during 2017’s Bitcoin boom.
