The Number of Women Engaging in Crypto Community Stands at an All-Time High of 10%
Despite suffering more prejudice in various fronts, compared to their male counterparts, women continue to defy all odds and emerge victorious. They’ve helped revolutionize many industries, bringing immense success while showing that they aren’t any different to men.
The past few decades have seen their resurgence get even more powerful, a fact evidenced by their significance in the male-dominated tech industry. But, even with their bold spirit, the tech world is still unwelcome to them, especially when you look at the data. One particular area where they are actively making a name today is the burgeoning field of cryptocurrencies.
Today, there are a handful of women in crypto, even though they are embracing it in droves. As posted on his Twitter, Casa’s Chief Technology Officer, Jameson Lopp said that the number of women joining the crypto bandwagon had been gradually increasing. He said their numbers now stand at an all-time high.
Women in cryptocurrency, according to a photo he shared, now stand at about 10% of the entire BTC community. The self-proclaimed ‘cypherpunk’ posted a graph showing an upward trend in female engagement.
The graph captures their engagement over the past three years, from during the great boom of 2017, through the first six months of 2018 when the numbers swelled, all the way to 2019. Their numbers increased from about 3% in 2017 to almost 10% of mid-2019.
The graph, however, offers an exciting image of the apparent gender disparity in different stages in the industry. For once, the often spoken-about topic of the massive gender gap is made clear by the Long Hash-generated graph.
The all-time high aside, it is crystal clear that the Blockchain industry still has a long way to go before it finally achieves gender equality. If the trend keeps rising this way, equality will undoubtedly arrive.
