The Show Goes On: Invited Crypto Leaders Attend the Warren Buffett Lunch Without Justin Sun
- Some of the invited guests of Justin Sun’s lunch with Warren Buffett had a meeting of their own.
- The rescheduled lunch may not happen for months.
The charity lunch with Warren Buffett was originally won by Justin Sun, but it is clear that Sun wouldn’t be making this meeting. Not to let a good meal go to waste, the rest of the attendees apparently decided to go one without him. The originally scheduled lunch on July 25th was allegedly postponed until July 26th, but no other updates were given by Sun.
Clearly, no one thought that other horrible news would break of Sun, like kidney stones, having to apologize for overly promoting the event, or even dealing with an investigation for money laundering. As a result, a few major cryptocurrency leaders decided to get together on July 25th for this power lunch with Buffett.
The lunch, which Sun invited Jeremy Allaire, Helen Hai, Yoni Assia, Chris Lee, and others to, was seemingly postponed for the public. However, it looks like Assai and Gabor Gurbacs posted to Twitter during the alleged lunch. Assia joked that eToro and VanEck would be partnering up, which was a very serious statement to the rest of the cryptocurrency community. In fact, Crypto Twitter became rather excited to learn about the details surrounding it.

In the same day, Gurbacs of VanEck posted the same picture and even joked that the meeting was better than the charity lunch that they were due to attend, joking that Buffett and Sun couldn’t make it.

So, with all of these delays and the lunch that was held without Sun or Buffett, when is this lunch going to happen? Sun recently attended a party for the first anniversary of the BitTorrent acquisition. Attended by many YouTubers, one of the topics that was apparently off the table was the lunch, as one YouTuber named BitBoy explained his theory that “it has something to do with China,” adding the possibility that
“the timing wasn’t right.”
“Maybe Buffett’s not comfortable with what’s happening and they’re waiting for it to pass. But it’s also possible that at this point the lunch may never happen.”
At this point, nothing is rescheduled in August at all, and it looks like it could be a few more months before anything is rescheduled.
