Tone Vays’ BTC vs. XRP Comparison: Ripple is like Geologists vs Flat Earthers Retweet Elicits a Debate
A vicious battle is brewing on Twitter, thanks to a distinguished Derivatives Trader, YouTuber and Cryptocurrency Consultant, Tone Vays. Tone who seemingly thrives in controversy made a tweet comparing the Bitcoin community’s chief advocates with those who support XRP and Ripple.
According to him, a conversation between members of the BTC community and those of the XRP-Ripple community would be akin to “Geologists” having a chat with Flat Earthers.” Although his sentiments were a Retweet to @@Zerpryder, an ordinary crypto enthusiast, the ensuing war was nothing short of spectacular.
No, it would be more like Geologists debating Falt Earthers or those who still think the Earth is the Center of the Universe.

I was initially going to say "Creationists" but that would be disrespectful. The earth being 6,000 yrs old makes way more sense than $XRP https://t.co/hQ1ceenOwj— Tone Vays [Bali – Financial Summit] (@ToneVays) January 30, 2019
It Was A Subtle Retweet
Initially, @Zerpryder had tweeted what he thought would be ‘very educational’ if ardent advocates of both groups host a debating session. He tagged Ripple’s David Schwartz, Ryan Zagone and Brad Garlinghouse, Blockstream’s CEO Adam Back, Peter Todd – a famous cryptographer, Trace Mayer, a Bitcoin enthusiast and Tone Vays in the tweet.
However, Tone Vays being the kind of person who doesn’t shy away from such “hot conversations,” his reply was as a classic of him as it would always be. To him, such a debate would appear a lot like “Geologists” conversing with “Flat Earthers” – those who believe the earth sits at the epicenter of the universe.
He, However, Wasn’t Done With His Sarcastic Attacks Yet.
According to him, Ripple and Bitcoin have no relationship whatsoever. He believes that XRP isn’t a currency, but serves as a token of security of Ripple Corporation and that SEC should have clarified that.
Tone Vays, who has over 180k Twitter followers, almost instantaneously elicited a reaction in the platform. Some crypto enthusiasts agreed while others disagreed. He later posted an update, laughing off the responses that had already been published on several leading crypto blogs. He said that the Retweet was a mere Bitcoin sarcasm that could have been taken out of context.
