More and more uses of cryptocurrencies are slowly creeping out, and an industry that has been supportive earlier on has been that of travelling. With the acceptance of Bitcoin [BTC] as a founding step, more online travel booking agencies are starting to bring more options for consumers.
Here is a list of online travel booking agencies that support cryptocurrencies as a payment method, along with the type of coins recognized:
aBitSky is an online travel database that allows consumers to book airline tickets, search for hotels and find deals last minute around the world, including the likes of Italy, USA, Spain and much more. As for their views on cryptos, it appears that aBitSky accepts Bitcoin. They have also shared several tips on how to use Bitcoin for travel and payment purposes.
airBaltic is another online flight booking service that allows consumers to book over 50 different destinations. They have always prided themselves for being the first airline to accept Bitcoin, as early as 2014. The company also uses BitPay to ensure Bitcoins are accurately administered.
AirTreks has also shared the news that they will be accepting Bitcoin as a payment. In order to complete a payment, consumers are required to have any of the following Bitcoin wallets: BitPay, Copay, Bitcoin.com, Mycelium and Airbitz.
Unlike the previous three booking agents, BTCtrip not only accepts Bitcoin as a payment method, but also other altcoins such as Litecoin and Dash, which are processed through wallets like BitPay and GoCoin respectively.
Of all the online travel providers, CheapAir has been very vocal about their support for their customers and their continuous drive to help satisfy their wants. They recently announced that along with Bitcoin, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash and Dash will be recognized for payments. This measure was taken primarily to fulfill their customers’ desires as many apparently were “very vocal about what they want, something we appreciate very much,” says CEO, Jeff Klee.
Destinia.com allegedly supports Bitcoin payments as well, however, some restrictions may apply regarding hotel, car and other rentals. They have also made it clear that despite the option of cryptos for payment, some destinations will be limited to credit cards.
Surf Air supposedly accepts Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin. The travel agency will only offer this option for memberships and charter requests. In order to use cryptocurrencies, consumers will have to choose a plan: Unlimited California or Texas, Unlimited U.S, Unlimited Europe or Unlimited Global and the application process is as simple as that.
