Trevon James Confirms the SEC Gags Him from Talking about BitConnect
Trevon James, suspected to be behind the BitConnect scam, has been quiet on social media during the last days. In September 14 he had an appearance before the SEC, and now he has released a new YouTube video in which he confirms that the regulatory agency gagged him from talking publicly about the discussion they had.
James is believed to have stolen part of the funds of the BitConnect scam, which could be over a million dollars. In the latest video he says that he cannot talk about the meeting with the SEC even when he would like to do that.
However, he mentioned that the SEC’s New York office was very intimidating. Additionally, James is also involved in a current FBI criminal investigation.
BitConnect was a cryptocurrency investment platform that offered high returns to investors for their funds. Back in January, the company decided to close the exchange platform and give back the funds to the users.
The company was accused of being a Ponzi scheme and a scam. For example, Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum’s co-founder called the exchange a Ponzi scheme. In addition to it, it has been accused as a pyramid scheme for the multi-level referral feature it offered.
BitConnect had its own virtual currency known as BitConnect Coin which has lost 99% of its value since the platform closed.
