Tron (TRX) Finalizes Pilot DApp Accelerator Plan as TRX Coin Looks for Next Catalyst
Kicked off on the 1st of December 2018, the first accelerator plan for DApp (Decentralized Application) has been finalised successfully with amazing results. Carried out by the Tron (TRX) Foundation, the entire plan was worth $1 million in prizes.
This, according to the foundation, was done to empower developers, programmers and start-ups, and to encourage them to start building on the Tron protocol. The developers were given until 4th of January to create and submit Decentralized Applications for the rest of the process.
The contest consisted of 114 well done blockchain projects, done by more than 1,000 developers.
These creators were from many different countries around the world and they all worked for their own share of the $1 million prize proposed not only as compensation, but also for additional research and development.
It was originally announced that the first 56 developers would share the prize money of $1 million in the following way:
- $200,000 for the 1st Prize Winner
- $100,000 for the 2nd Prize Winners (2)
- $50,000 for the 3rd Prize Winners (3)
- 8 Special Prizes worth $30,000 each. This brings the total to $240,000
- 42 Finalist Prizes worth $5,000 each. This brings the total to $210,000
Conversely, this apportionment was reviewed and changed by the Tron foundation to include the aforementioned 114 DApp developers.
The decision to make this change by the Tron team was due to the quality and quantity of the DApps that were created and submitted for evaluation. The team’s communication on this decision, explained why they did this with a bit more details:
“You’ll notice that we did not award two of the highest monetary awards we originally proposed, and we’d like to explain why:
After evaluating the great submissions that came in, we were pleasantly surprised by both the quality and quantity of the dApps made in support of the TRON ecosystem. We therefore reduced the two top prizes to give more developers a win – and money they’ll receive for supporting our effort to reshape the internet.
We’ve awarded money to 114 projects, totalling our original $1 million pool. We hope people understand and support the change, and thank you for your continued support of the TRON ecosystem.”
