Tron’s Founder Issues Giveaway for Tesla, Bringing Major Problems and Rumors of a Scam

TRON founder Justin Sun promoted a giveaway through the TRON Foundation recently, promising to award a Tesla car within China to one of their followers.

Early on March 27th, the company and Sun congratulated the winner – a 22-year old girl in Fujian, Fuzhou.

Sun posted a congratulations to the winner as well, using TWrench to show the selection of the winner during a draw, which appears to select Uzgaroth.

However, shortly after, problems because to arise, as users online began to see some issues. Some users even suggested that the winner appeared to be faked, considering that a minute or so before the draw, the Twitter page of the “winner” popped up.

Josh Galt, an analyst, wrote a tweet about the circumstances, saying that there were 88 draws, as shown in the image he provided. The first draw, he pointed out, was from the Tron Foundation account, and it selected a winner with the handle “kozmenko2017,” which is a bot.

The rest of the 88 draws came from anonymous sources, but he said that the time stamps on the image suggests that they were all done by the same person.

Even though lots of the content has been deleted, Galt had enough foresight to save the video, which shows the winner popping up at around the 33-second mark.

Finally, Justin Sun posted a comment to his own Twitter page, explaining that the point of using a video for the selection was to continue with their constant goal of transparency. The “large size” caused a “glitch” when uploading the content to Twitter, he stated, assuring the users that they would reach out to Twitter to fix the problem.

While Sun basically said that there was no problem, he since deleted the video, and has eliminated any mention of Uzgaroth.

However, he did not manage to delete it in enough time before the alleged winner took a screenshot of the post, hoping to find out if they were actually the winner.

Mistakes can happen on social media, especially considering that Twitter is one of the few social media websites that does not offer the opportunity to edit a post. However, there is a few signs that this whole situation played out according to plan. In an article by TrustNodes, the writer points out a follower of Uzgaroth that Sun already knows, showing a connection between them. However, now, Sun is no longer following that mutual person.

With all of the commotion, it may turn out that there’s no giveaway at all. No specific winner is named in any posts, and no answers have been provided to confirm the original winner. So, the only question left is – what happens to that Mini Cooper?
