Tron’s Justin Sun Compliments Ethereum’s Vitalik Buterin for BitTorrent Praise on Twitter
Vitalik Buterin has been involved in the cryptocurrency industry for a long time as the founder of Ethereum, the first major cryptocurrency to be well-known amongst the community. In a recent Twitter post, the founder brought attention to BitTorrent’s work as an app, saying that it has been a “mega time success.”
BitTorrent was brought up in a discussion involving Buterin and user The Pleb Whisperer. The user challenged Buterin’s claims against another platform, challenging,
“So goldbugs are a megatime failure too? Could you describe a megatime success?”
Without missing a beat, Buterin quickly replied, “BitTorrent. VPNs. Encrypted messaging in apps. Slowly.” When another user stated that there’s no other digital asset beyond Bitcoin that has a potential for lasting use in decentralized applications, Buterin reiterated that BitTorrent does, including a smiley face with his comment. He added, “But in the blockchain space, I expect ENS will be #2.”
The conversation is over a year old, and the connection that BitTorrent has to Tron (after the acquisition in 2018) essentially gives Tron a compliment as well. Justin Sun, the founder of the Tron Foundation, did not hesitate to jump to praise Buterin for his comments. He posted,
Thank you @VitalikButerin for standing out! I have a secret campaign especially for you in #ValentinesDay! Don't forget to join it! #TRON #TRX $TRX #BitTorrent #BTT $BTT https://t.co/rQsVsLtBKf

To provide a little history, the Tron Foundation was publicly accused by Vitalik of plagiarizing the Ethereum whitepaper in their own. Sun and Buterin had multiple disputes publicly on Twitter at the time, though it appears that Sun adjusted the whitepaper in December of last year to ensure that this plagiarism was not taking place.
As a result, Buterin has been friendly towards Sun, BitTorrent, and the Tron Foundation as a whole since then.
Presently, the top three decentralized applications on a website called DappRadar.com are all the creations of the Tron Foundation, while EOS applications follow just behind. DappRadar.com is run by Misha Lederman, who is a Tron supporter. Posting to Twitter on February 8th, Lederman said,
“To think #TRX has been able to dominate the DApp world so quickly, in under 4 months since activation of TRON Virtual Machine on Oct 12, is nothing short of remarkable.”
