Tron’s Justin Sun Shows Ethereum’s Vitalik How to Make Guac at Token2049 During Buterin’s Speech
Recently, Justin Sun, founder of TRON, could be said to have taken more than an average interest in Ethereum’s co-founder – Vitalik Buterin – as it would seem like Justin has been mentioning Buterin’s handle on Twitter a lot.
He took this a bit further as he seemed to “interrupt” Buterin’s live speech during a cryptocurrency event in Hong Kong called the Token 2049. This event was planned to deliberate on how to move forward with blockchain in the country.
The Gimmick
On the day of the event, while Buterin was speaking, the TRON founder was seen coming into the room of the event, accompanied by another person dressed up like an avocado covered in TRON.
This was a deliberate reference to an earlier tweet where Vitalik Buterin made mention of avocados when he was making a clarification about BitTorrent which supposedly happened before it was acquired by TRON.
The tweet said:
“That interview was from Aug 2017. Tron acquired bittorrent in Jul 2018. My praise for bittorrent had nothing to do with Tron. This is like implying that because I like avocados, I approve of everyone who has ever bought an avocado.”
However, Vitalik either didn’t notice Sun and his gimmick or deliberately decided not to pay him any mind.
Many people thought it was especially rude because, during the speech, Sun also decided that it was a good idea to continuously yawn. It, however, seemed like no one really thought it was funny even though it got a few laughs.
When asked about his gimmick by Decrypt, Justin Sun said:
“I do not think that Ethereum is ready for a change to Proof of Stake at all…Even for a year or more, Ethereum won’t be ready for a proof of stake (integration) at all.”
He also went ahead to explain that Ethereum’s Constantinople still leaves much to be questioned because it has left miners and developers very uncertain about how to proceed.
In all this, the avocado-man was silent and after the conversation, walked away with Mr. Sun.
