Tuur Demeester Says Bitcoin Adoption Is Tracking Internet Adoption’s Trend
Tuur Demeester, the founding partner at Adamant Capital, says that Bitcoin adoption is currently tracking the trend for internet adoption. In a recent tweet he uploaded, he shows a graphic in which he estimates that there will be 500 million Bitcoin (BTC) holders by 2020.
Bitcoin Holders Could Reach 500 Million By 2020
According to Tuur Demeester, there will be 500 million holders by 2020. This is a very large number of individuals holding just 21 million BTC in the market. According to Demeester, the estimations that say that there were 5 million holders in 2014 is just too optimistic. As he mentioned Bitcoin could have this amount of users in late 2015.
Bitcoin adoption is roughly tracking the trend for internet adoption. I made this in 2014, predicting 500M holders by 2020. @Wences estimates that we're currently at 60M Bitcoin holders. pic.twitter.com/Z75MRWGBPh

The CEO of Xapo, Wences Casares, wrote an article in which he says that it would be irresponsible not to allocate 1% of a large portfolio in Bitcoin. This is because the digital asset has a large potential to reach very high values in the future. However, if the price of the digital asset goes to zero, the portfolio would only lose just 1% of its value, which can be handled by portfolio managers and investors.
About the number of Bitcoin holders, Mr. Casares commented about it:
“But after 10 years of working well without interruption, with more than 60 million holders, adding more than 1 million new holders per month and moving more than $1 billion per day worldwide, it (Bitcoin) has a good chance of succeeding.”
Demeester has also shared a chart in which he says that Bitcoin adoption in the United States is at around 2 percent of households. The same as Internet adoption in 1993. That means that 2020 could become a tipping point and Bitcoin could reach the “Windows 1995 moment.”
Extrapolating from a Dutch survey, I'd say Bitcoin adoption in the US is at ~2% of households – same as Internet adoption in 1993. In other words, 2020 could become a tipping point, Bitcoin equivalent of a "Windows 1995 moment". pic.twitter.com/aiaf6si8FM

Thus, Bitcoin is expanding and growing as time passes. This shows that there is a real interest in the digital asset and it could be embraced by many other investors and users in the future.
