Jack Dorsey, the New Bitcoin Jesus?
Jack Dorsey has been supporting the cryptocurrency space for a long time. Square added support for Bitcoin and it might end up adding support for the Lightning Network (LN) in the near future.
Dorsey released a Tweet in which he explains that they are hiring between three and four cryptocurrency engineers and one designer to work full-time on open source contributions to the crypto and Bitcoin ecosystems. He even mentioned that he can work from anywhere around the world and report directly to him. Dorsey even mentioned that they can pay them in Bitcoin.
This shows that Dorsey is very interested in this project since he is planning to relocate part of his time to manage this small team of employees that will be working to improve Bitcoin and the whole crypto network.
In other tweets he wrote, he says that this is one of the most impactful things that he could do for the Bitcoin community. Thus, the intention is to make the whole crypto ecosystem better. As he mentioned, this is going to be the first open source initiative from Square that will be independent of their business objectives. These new employees will be focusing entirely on the best for the cryptocurrency community.
About the decision that Square took, he said:
“Square has taken a lot from the open source community to get us here. We haven’t given enough back. This is a small way to give back, and one that’s aligned with our broader interests: a more accessible global financial system for the internet.”
About the decision to hire a designer, he marked that it is important to help people access this technology faster and better.
Why add a designer into the mix? I believe this is an underfunded area in the crypto ecosystem. Great design will help more people access this technology faster and better. And we want to see more work to educate, like this: https://t.co/3hBdEDLk3e

Dorsey mentioned that he is also very excited to learn more from the community directly and that he feels like this is similar to the early internet times.
Clearly, the work that Dorsey is doing to promote Bitcoin and improve the network is something that should be recognized. And indeed, Alan Silbert, a banking expert and Bitcoin evangelist, wrote a tweet in which he says that Dorsey is the new Bitcoin Jesus.
Before, this nickname was given to Roger Ver when he was working for BTC rather than Bitcoin Cash (BCH). It seems that now Dorsey will have this nickname.
