The United Arab Emirates' capital is looking to put its land records on a blockchain platform. It is according to a press release that featured on The Block on Monday. The government agency that is responsible for the development strategy of Abu Dhabi, Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities, has joined hands with an Indian firm to oversee that initiative.
The IT tech company from India Mahindra looks to ensure the plan goes on as expected. The government agency wants to offer the Abu Dhabi people a blockchain solution known as SmartHub. The platform will assist in tracing land registry records and also reduce the time taken to process real estate transactions.
The platform aims at storing all the land-related documents that are issued by municipalities and keep records via nodes that are extended to distinct entities.
The CIO of Abu Dhabi municipality was recorded saying that the implementation of services like SmartHub digital services will enhance customer satisfaction, accessibility of services, and even improve the quality of life of the Abu Dhabi citizens. He also added that this was the beginning of the many services that the agency is planning to achieve this year.
Blockchain Development Competition to be hosted by the Ministry of Community Development
The ministry of community development is intending to host a competition that aims at building blockchain-based platforms. The “Social Blockathon” competition looks to promote the development of blockchain platforms for recreational, social, and educational purposes. The event is said to have a prize fund of $16,300.
The MOCD submissions for the contest are still open until next year, February 20. The competition has opened doors even for graphic designers, computer programmers, and UX designers. All these are going to compete in the championship to create awareness initiatives and also assist in creating blockchain-based software.
MOCD is responsible for developing and implementing the legislation and social policies by UAE. It is also tasked with managing social welfare organizations.
