UK Based Alternative Airlines And Utrust Partner To Allow Travelers To Book Flights With Crypto
Alternative Airlines, a U.K based travel agency has partnered with Utrust, a digital payments processor to facilitate crypto payments to more than 600 airlines.
Utrust which is swiss based recently announced its new collaboration with Alternative Airlines. Alternative Airlines hogged the limelight when it was included among the 100 Fast Airlines Tech in 2019. Thanks to this new partnership, it will be possible to pay for flights to destinations around the world using Bitcoin (BTC), UTK of Utrust, DASH, Ethereum (ETH) and DigiByte (DGB). This is officially the first time Utrust has partnered with a merchant in the travel industry.
Among the airlines for which flights can be paid for in cryptocurrency include American Airlines, Delta Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Southwest Airlines, United Airlines and Ryanair. The partnership has enabled Alternative Airlines to swap crypto payments to fiat money on the same day payments are made without any delays and thus protecting the firm from cryptocurrency market inconsistency. Utrust CEO, Nuno Correia, said:
“For business or leisure, flight travel can be expensive with consumers saving for months to afford a trip. Considered a high ticket item, it is imperative that consumers are protected when booking flights. Utrust is providing Alternative Airlines’ customers with the increased security and convenience of cryptocurrency payments, and reducing processing fees, to bring greater transparency and trust to the world of online payments.”
Utrust Attempts to Revolutionize the Online Travel Agencies (OTA’s)
When compared to instant cross-border cryptocurrency transactions, old traditional card payment methods normally involve significant fees ranging from 3% to 7%. In addition to this, forex costs lead to a loss of margin for online travel agencies (OTA’s) when multiple currencies are used. In a solid attempt to revolutionize the OTA market, Utrust is rolling out instant cross-border crypto transactions. The new system boasts of buyer protection and at a commission of only 1%. Bitstop co-founder and chief strategy officer Doug Carrillo said,
“Miami International Airport is a perfect place for our customers to conveniently exchange their dollars for Bitcoin and vice versa when traveling domestically or abroad.”
Alternative Airlines CEO Sam Argyle said that their main focus is working towards providing a seamless transaction process for all of its customers while allowing them to choose from an array of 25 different payment methods. The payment methods include all the major debit cards and payment plans from the world’s best global providers. Sam Argyle believes that this new partnership is just what customers needed to streamline the online booking experience.
He further highlighted some of the advantages of the new system over the traditional accustomed one. Argyle specifically noted that customer protection is paramount when booking flights; Utrust is providing customers with increased security and convenience when making payments. He finally pointed out that crypto payments bring more transparency and trust owing to its reduced processing fees.
This new crypto payment system has already laid solid ground and proven to take over by wave. About three months ago it was reported that SL Benfica a football team in Portugal collaborated with Utrust to enable fans to pay for tickets and merchandise via cryptocurrency. A Bitcoin ATM was also been installed in mid-October at Miami International Airport by Bitstop firm. This was the first Bitcoin ATM at the airport and has enabled customers to conveniently exchange their dollars for Bitcoin and vice versa when traveling.
