Unstoppable Domains & Chainlink Launch On-Chain Twitter Verification For .Crypto Domains

  • Unstoppable Domains announces .crypto domain users can now verify their address using their Twitter usernames before sending out cryptocurrencies.

A partnership between Unstoppable Domains, a blockchain startup offering hard-to-censor domains, and Chainlink, a decentralized data oracle platform, offers crypto holders an easier way to transact across a blockchain. Companies, enterprises, and individuals holding blockchain-based domains can now authenticate their addresses using a Twitter account.

Unstoppable Domains offers users of .crypto domains, which allow them to receive and send cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Litecoin (LTC) without writing down the long alphanumeric digits.

However, users could have similar crypto domain names as no one can censor or regulate the area. Here’s where verification becomes very important. With Twitter usernames integrated, you are able to verify that the right domain is receiving the money sent from your wallet. Notwithstanding, this will also stop phishing attacks, which have become common in the crypto space.

Unstoppable Domains is working with MyEtherWallet (MEW) to introduce on-chain Twitter verification, whereby users will be notified if the user they are sending to is the right recipient. Speaking on the latest security check implementation, Kosala Hemachandra, MyEtherWallet founder, said,

“For the first time, our users have a way to verify the identity of someone they want to send crypto to before sending. […] Adding your Twitter handle to your blockchain address provides a missing layer of transparency to make crypto safer.”
